For the love of sewing
So I think everyone knows by now I love doing things for myself. Making things gives me such a rush. It's kinda like Hey I just made that! WHOA!
So I started out the day working on the kitchen. Man! Now I know why we waited so long to chisel out the grout for the outlet covers. Such a WORKOUT! Who am I kidding my arms are so weak that anything is a workout for them. :-) Then I noticed I chiseled too much. UGH! So I had to put out the grout again....needless to say those outlet covers aren't going ANYWHERE! unless you want to chisel them out. haha Probably wasn't a smart idea to do it that way, but hey now it looks cleaner. Tomorrow I will seal the grout, since I have to wait a day for the grout to dry.
So after that I completely cleaned the living room. Including the fan! OMG gross....I really need to start cleaning that every week instead of once a month.
After that was done. I started making the new pillow covers for the couch. Recovering is a quick inexpensive way to change your living room feel. Buying basics and using pillows to give it that extra something. Most of our furniture is hand me downs from Mudder and my parents and I wouldn't say it was "modern", but it's still comfortable. Buying new furniture is out of the question, so pillow covering comes into play to get that "modern" feel. :-)
Then when I was over at Gabby and Grande's taking care of the pool I decided I should help Gabby out and sew Aiden's curtains. Since I know she's a busy lady like me and well being alone in the house gets boring and lonely so must stay busy. :-)
First project. Diaper Cover. FAILED! I have not mastered working on small projects yet. Will try to attempt again later after more sewing projects.
Second project. Changing Pad Cover. SUCCESS! I got this idea from
Prudent BabyI used the same fabric that will be for the curtains. The patterned fabric. I just loved how it turned out! I may even make another one. That way we have 4. It was a really easy project and highly recommend everyone try it.
Third project. Curtains. Tomorrow. I have to go get some black out fabric since the fabric I want to use is really thin. This is a must. One of Aiden's windows lets in so much light we use a blanket to block out the sun from shining in his crib.
Now I'm trying to decide what type of top do I want to do. The easy route: Use curtain clips, so would just mean trim all the edges. Or make a cuff at the top to slide onto the rod. Either way you wouldn't see it, because the valance covers the 2nd rod.
I then noticed almost EVERYTHING in my house is Blue, Green, White, and Tan. Except the Bama bathroom. :-) Man if I ever have a girl, it will be funny if they want pink, yellow, purple thrown in the mix.....that would be outside my box.
Eventually I want to attempt to make a Jon Jon for Aiden. I love them, plus it would save us money bc they are EXPENSIVE in stores. 20 plus. I know I could make one under 10. Just have to figure out how to make the snaps at the bottom. Research project!
BTW, HAPPY 5 MONTHS AIDEN!!!!!!!!! You're growing up so fast. Loving every moment of it!

Projects
Empty house equals me doing little projects around the house....so miss my guys!! I swear Wes is going to come home to a different house! :-)
Project 1: Install add on blinds to the back door. The man room has been at a halt because we didn't like the fact you can see in the room from the deck. Especially since it's where computers and hobbies are stored. But now that is fixed. In less than 10 minutes it was installed. My kind of project!!

Project 2: Put together my desk. That has been sitting in a box gosh for about 7 months. lol Gotta love matching desks! Especially free matching desks!! We ordered just one and they sent two and only charged us for one!
Project 3: Put all outgrown baby items in attic. There used to be a collection of baby stuff in the man room, the swing, infant car seat, baby clothes, maternity clothes, etc. Now I see why it took me so long to put it up in the attic. THE HEAT!!!!!!!! OMG! I was sweating so bad for like 10 minutes of work. Dear lord! I hope I never have to do that again....Oh wes!?!?! :-)
Project 4: Make Growth Chart. We were going to put it in the closet...but as you can see......the stripe is GONE! lol Too much in front of it. So then began the search on what to do.....We of course EVERY growth chart I liked was like 50 dollars plus. Um I don't think so!!! So I decided to make one.
Previous Growth Chart ideaWhere is the chart?!?!
Materials & Costs:
Foam board- 5
Wrapping Paper- 1 (leftovers will go to Birthday presents)
Fabric- 10 (I got more than what I needed, because the leftovers I'm using to make pillow covers for the living room. I fell in love with this fabric. Had a modern touch to them and will go perfect with our beige couch.)
Button- 20 cents
Numbers/Letter- 0 (Already had them in my scrapbooking accessories)
Ribbon- 0 (Already had from leftover projects, the valances, etc)
Total 16.20
That's a 30 dollar saving! Plus I think I did a great job on the giraffe and it's got a personal touch. Look mommy I can still draw :-) I was worried I would be wasting my time on it and fail miserably.
Finished Product
Watch Me Grow!
Each foot marker has a place to write the date. Can't believe Baby Boy is already passed 2 marks.
Well that's enough work for the day going to lay down and watch a movie. Tomorrow's Projects. Seal the backsplash grout to call the kitchen 100% done. Make pillow covers.

Alone
So today at 4am Aiden and Wes left me! :-( Mommy couldn't get off work, and I wanted Aiden to meet his great granddaddy. They are on vacation with Wes' fam to Outer Banks, NC. Already miss them so much! But I hear baby boy is doing great! Such a good baby.
So to prepare for the trip I wiped clean Wes camera's memory card. All 957 pictures! OMG! All now safely stored on my external harddrive. But with that I found some pictures I had been looking for! Aiden's first bath!!! So 5 months later I post these. lol better late than never. He was soooo small, a whopping 9lbs, compared to now. Glad he's outgrown his fear of water..hence why his body turned BRIGHT red.

Another thing. I finally got Aiden a light. I think he will love it. No I didn't get the dachshund like I wanted, but I think I ended up with an even cuter item.
Giimmo Stego Jr. The Stegosaurus.Ah so cute!!!! They come in the cutest animals, it was very hard to decide. It was between the Stego and the Hedgehog. And you can't beat the price from like $70 for the dog to $15 for the cute dinosaur. All the review talked about how their kids could carry it to the bathroom in the nighttime, acting like a little friend. I loved the features about it.
* Color changing LED, AC Rechargeable
* The built in LED is eco-friendly, featuring low heat and low power
* Gently tap Giimmo to turn on, and tap again to turn off
* Poseable limbs, Milky white, soft PVC
