Manners

I have been so impressed with Aiden lately it makes me sad. haha Just shows how much of a little boy he is becoming!

I can confidently say hes 100% potty trained during the day including naps. We started last weekend with no pullups at night....results? Changing the sheets every morning. When that kid is asleep. He's ASLEEP! No whine, startles, etc when he peed on himself. I was hoping he would wake up so he knows to get out of bed....I guessed wrong. This week I am really swamped and drained so bad mommy is back on pullups throughout this week. We will start a new game plan this weekend.

My new night approach: No drinks after 7pm. Before Wes leaves for work he is going to go in Aiden's room, wake him up, and get him to go potty. One good thing about him working in the wee hours (mommy can sleep), but soon I know I'll be up with Brody so I can take a couple days if need be ;-). I read waking them up gets them in a pattern. Let's just hope it doesn't wake him up to much that he won't go back to bed.

My concerns: We have taught Aiden to stay in bed until we come in there....well now we are wanting him to get out of bed. I hope it doesn't confuse him!?!

I know he knows where his bathroom is, but will he be able to make it half asleep? One good thing is our hall lights are on a dimmer so it won't be pitch black dark.

If we don't see progress with this method. We will probably take a break and just continue to the no drinks after 7pm until further notice. But I really want him trained before Brody comes. A lot to ask of a 2.5 year old I know...but I think he can do it!

Aiden's vocabulary has improved so much it makes me thrilled! This was the one thing that kind of worried me. He was progressing so fast at everything else but to get words out other than Momma was tough. But now he's putting 3 word sentences together and starting conversation without prompting. I still wouldn't say he's 100% on track but every day his growth keeps me at ease. Late bloomer. Even his teachers are SO SO impressed. They actually say he's the talkative one in the class now (a title normally held by girls. haha). I appreciate how he can tell me things instead of me guessing. That game I'm not good at.

At Aiden's school to get in the building you have to have a swipe card, then to check your kid out you have to know a secret number/word. When Aiden changed to his potty training class he change codes....which for a 2 year old is a lot! I would tell his teacher his code he would look at me. "No Momma it's 2!" 'Yes you were 2 but now you are __'. Well it was something he couldn't say yet. Well just a few weeks ago he was able to say it instead of 2. lol So proud of him remembering. Got a high five from me and his teacher!
Every day his report card comes back like this. Go Aiden!! We have been working hard with him on saying "Thank You" and "Please" and it seems to be working! Yah! At his school the kids with good manners (saying thank you, please, sharing, and helping others) get a special setup for lunch. So all the kids want to be special of course!

One thing I've never worried about was Aiden being a helper. He LOVES it! So no matter what we are doing I always get him involved. I want him to learn how to do things so he can do them himself. He's old enough but it's so cute to see him try something new and get stuck/can't open causing him to ask for mommy's help. "Help me. Help Momma!" So adorable! Then it's always followed with a "Thank You". Could eat him up!

Funny note. I had to drop off a couple things at Gabby's house last night and of course Aiden heard me say Gabby. So he wanted to come too. I told him to finish his dinner and take a bath then maybe. And what came out of his mouth?!?! "WHY?" OMG. Who taught you that. haha has it officially started the Whys? My reply "Well because you take a bath after every meal and I said so." "WHY?" "Because Gabby doesn't like dirty little boys in her house." "Oh okay." lol really?!
