This was the main headache. It's the most lived in space in our house, so of course it gets cluttered. So I have to make sure I apply the "Ice Cream Rule" in here! My cabinets housed so many things that I never used. Took me several days to get through here....but it's finished and MAN! I am SOOOOOO happy with the results! My Befores are kind of embarrassing but gives you the true sense of why it had to change! Such chaos!
I applied the "If I haven't used this in a year it's gone" method and if I had multiple of the same item reduce. (Please take in mind some of the Before pictures aren't housing everything....dishwasher and sink full.)
Kids Cabinet
I relocated the kid plates and minimized the number of sippy cups (if it was chewed on bad it was tossed). The top row is full of themed cups...which I couldn't part with just yet (Too cute and hey Brody will use them). I added a command hook on the door to house the label bands so they don't take up cabinet space.
Glasses Cabinet
How many coffee cups does one need?! I kept all the ones that match my Everyday China and a few of my favorite ones (aka the big guys!) I had to relocate the meds to the top shelf, because now the big guy stands on a chair to help Mommy and can reach the bottom shelf...its a pain it being that high, but I want to keep my family safe.
Plate Cabinet
For some reason I was still keeping my old plate set....not sure....but ever since we got married we never used them again...so why on earth was I keeping them?! So now I can store my Everday China serveware pieces at the top instead of the frequently used bottom shelves. (Haha as you can see from the Before image we are cereal eaters...lol all of them were either dirty in the sink or clean in the dishwasher)
Oven Cabinet
This cabinet was easy. I moved the wine goblets to my buffet where my nice china is. Then I got a small basket for my large spices and the liquids. I would have gotten rid of all my coozies (no one here drinks), but I know once I do for some odd reason we will need one...so I only kept 4 (had like 20 haha).
Frig Cabinet
This cabinet is just like the dead space cabinet. One perk of being tall is I can reach the things at the front, but the back I need a chair. So this was the perfect place to store my cookbooks and my large serveware pieces.
Dead Space Cabinet
This cabinet is the devil. Its hard to get things in and out and it's such a weird shape. I decided to store the blender down there to clear off the countertop. Then I placed all the party plates, napkins, and silverware in a bin. It's so clear and easy to see everything now.
Silverware Drawer
I got a new silverware organizer and LOOOVE it! It expands to fit the whole drawer. I reduced my number of food scissors to 2 and then got rid of my old silverware set.
Spice Drawer
Wow this before is embarrassing! Since I freed up some space in the silverware drawer some things moved into there. Then I organized all the spices by name.
Container Drawer
I love my deep drawers, but with things like containers it's a pain. But I reduced the number I had and tried to keep similar ones so it was easier to stack/store.
Pan Cabinet
This cabinet was the easiest! I basically moved all the flat pans to the drawer on the oven (muffin trays and cookie sheets). Everything fits perfectly and the bottom rack easily
Bakeware Drawer
Here I did some major reduction. Seriously....5 baking dishes...really?! When I've only used max 2 at the same time. So I kept my 2 largest ones and a small one. Then how many mixing bowls...8! Really 8! Why on earth did I have so many...I kept 1 large one, my Everyday China large bowl, and a medium one. Now that I don't have so many bakeware dishes my hors doeuvres dishes fit in perfectly in my large baker.
Upper Lazy Susan CabinetThis cabinet was hard to organize. I like how you can spin it to get to the back, but it's hard to find things to fit. This cabinet involved alot of reduction too.
Lower Lazy Susan Cabinet
This cabinet makes me so happy now since it's used so much! Same issues as the upper lazy susan cabinet, so I picked up several bins to accomplish this. Small green bins-holiday cookie cutters; sandwich cutters and random cookie cutters; and kid medical supplies (breathing masks, tubes, syringes, nose bulbs, etc)...these used to be all loose on the shelf (crazy and unorganized I know)! Black bins- breathing machine meds; and baby supplies (bibs, training sippy cups, snack cups, etc).
Utentsil Drawer
This drawer was already downsized, I was debating if I should get a drawer organizer...but I doubt it would make it look any better.
Cleaning Cabinet
Didn't really do a lot here either. If it wasn't a cleaning product I use weekly it got moved to the garage cleaning stock pile. Then I reduced the number of cleaning rags.
